Cookies
This page explains the small files and similar storage this site uses. Personal data more generally is described in the privacy notice.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of data a site stores on your device so it can recognise a choice or a session later. Some cookies are essential to remember a setting you asked for. Others help a publisher understand which pages were read. On this site we also use localStorage for the same kind of preference, which is not a cookie in the strict HTTP sense but is treated here with the same care.
Types we use
Essential. The consent record itself. Without it the banner would return on every page load, which is worse manners than storing a yes or no.
Analytics. Only if you press Accept. These help us see which journal pieces and course pages are opened. They are not required to read a lesson page, send a form, or open the atelier syllabus. Rejecting leaves the site fully usable.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| toolmapbase_cookie_consent | Stores whether you accepted or rejected analytics. LocalStorage key, brand-prefixed. | Until you clear site data | Tool Mapbase (first party) |
| tm_page_hint | If you accept, a first-party cookie noting the last course page opened so we can improve navigation copy. Not set on Reject. | 6 months | Tool Mapbase (first party) |
| _tm_read | If you accept, a page-view counter used only as aggregated counts. Not set on Reject. | 13 months | Tool Mapbase (first party) |
How to manage or disable cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner. To change a decision later, clear site data for tool-mapbase.digital in your browser, reload, and choose again. You may also block cookies entirely in the browser; the syllabus, journal, and forms will still work. If you block all storage, the banner may reappear because it cannot remember the choice.
Third-party cookies
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and images from public image hosts (Unsplash or Pexels). Those hosts may set their own cookies according to their policies. We do not use advertising networks. Video, if introduced later for the Schema Primer, would be named here before it ships.
Impact of disabling
Rejecting analytics does not hide courses, lock articles, or change fees. You may see the banner again after clearing storage. Some images or fonts might still be requested from third parties; that is a function of how the page is built, not a punishment for rejecting cookies.
